Rebel Spring Games to Welcome 51 College Softball Teams
2015 Softball Spring Training Event Brings Three Weeks of Games to Polk County
Auburndale, Fla. (February 25, 2015) – NCAA Division I, II, III and NAIA softball teams from across the US will begin play in the 2015 The Rebel Spring Games, an event that will bring 51 college softball teams to Polk County. The annual college women’s softball spring training event will hold 218 games during the three-week series of games.
Play in the 2015 Rebel Spring Games is set to begin Wednesday, March 4, as three NCAA Division I teams, Presbyterian College, Sacred Heart University and Saint Francis University (PA) will take to the diamond to open play. On March 4 play will begin at 10AM with South Carolina’s Presbyterian College taking on Sacred Heart University from Connecticut. Sacred heart will then play in the 12:15PM game versus Saint Francis of Pennsylvania with the first day’s games concluding at 2:30 Pm when Saint Francis plays Presbyterian College. Winter Haven’s DiamondPlex will host all of the games on the opening day, with 196 of the games played in this year’s event Rebel Spring Games being contested at the Winter Haven complex. Admission for the games is $8 per day and $25 per week with college age and younger attendees having complimentary admission.
Two teams currently ranked in the pre-season NCAA Division III NFCA Coaches Poll, Kean University (#15) and Rowan University (#22), will be among the teams to watch during the three weeks of competition. Some of the other NCAA Division I colleges and universities scheduled to appear in this year’s event include: Florida A & M, University of South Dakota, University of Akron (OH), Niagara University (NY) and the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. NCAA Division II schools include: Illinois Wesleyan University, State College of NY at Cortland, Wheaton College (MA), Washington College (MD), Ramapo (NJ) and Eastern Connecticut State University.
