Polk County is host to one of the largest aviation events in the world, Sun 'N Fun. Most people refer to Sun 'N Fun as a "fly-in" and that's certainly an important component, as Lakeland Linder Regional Airport becomes the busiest airport in the world during the event, with over 40,000 recorded aircraft movements! That's busier than Atlanta or Chicago!

Polk County is also host to one of the largest aviation tradeshow/conventions in the world with more than 500 commercial exhibitors showcasing the newest products in the industry. From multi-million dollar aircraft to aviation art and avionics, our vendors have something for just about everyone. Plus, our education corridor is host to more than 400 hands-on workshops and forums, all taking place during the six-day event known around the world as "Sun 'n Fun".

Other aeronautic events in Polk County include Florida International Jet Rally, Water Wings and Wild Things, Roar N Soar, High Flying Holidays, and Top Gun.
In Polk County, you can experience the largest collection of vintage aircraft or enjoy a hot air balloon ride at Fantasy of Flight. If you are looking for something a little more extreme, you can experience skydiving at the Florida Skydiving Center in Lake Wales.
