College Sports

Polk County is home to five colleges and universities participating in athletics.

Florida Southern College, located in Lakeland, is home to 27 NCAA National Division II championships. The majority of the college’s athletic teams participate in the Sunshine State Conference, or SSC, an NCAA Division II institution. The men’s lacrosse team plays in the Deep South Conference.

Polk State College, located in Winter Haven and Lakeland, is a NJCAA Division I school competing in Baseball, Men’s Basketball, Women’s Soccer, Softball, and Women’s Volleyball.

Southeastern University, located in Lakeland, participates in the NAIA Sun Conference and NCCAA DI South Region. Southeastern University competes in Baseball, Basketball, Cross Country, Men’s Golf, Soccer, Softball, Tennis and Volleyball.

Warner University, located in Lake Wales, participates in the NAIA Sun Conference. Warner University competes in Baseball, Basketball, Cheer and Dance, Cross Country, Football, Golf, Soccer, Softball, Tennis, Track and Field, and Volleyball.

Webber University, located in Babson Park, participates in NAIA Sun Conference. Webber University competes in Baseball, Basketball, Beach and Indoor Volleyball, Bowling, Cheerleading, Cross Country, Football, Golf, Soccer, Tennis, and Track & Field.
